As an upstanding American-Muslim, Hafeez will touch on his experiences as a Muslim urging to involve himself in American politics as well as expand on some of our country’s growing concerns related to the place that Islam holds in America today.

Rally for Peace

Concerned Muslims of Las Vegas together with the Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada will hold a peace rally at the Federal Courthouse building on September 11, 2010 between 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM. It is a silent rally where participants will hold signs in their hands. They will not march up and down the street. They will be standing outside the Courthouse building. Every one is encouraged to join the rally.

Laylat al-Qadr programs and completion of the Quran around the Las Vegas valley, Ramadan 1431 AH

Most mosques in the city will be competing the recitation of the Qur'an during the Tarawih prayer on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010. Special all night Laylat al-Qadr programs are taking place at different mosques during these last 10 days of Ramadan. Special prayers and programs are being held after Isha prayer on Sunday, Sept.5th at all the mosques in the valley.

The Muslim Students' Association of UNLV cordially invites you to join us in our Interfaith Iftar (fast opening dinner) and share our Ramadan experience.

Our mission is to promote peace and develop a better understanding among people of all faiths and beliefs. We encourage everyone to seek this opportunity to learn more about Islam and "know thy neighbor." Therefore, we are honored to invite you to experience a very special interfaith gathering on 9/2/10 at UNLV's Student Union room 208AB.

The program will begin promptly at 6:30pm. There will be an opportunity for Muslims to offer Prayers and for non-Muslims to learn their meaning and significance. All food served will be complimentary and Halaal (kosher).

Imam Ibraheem will read from the Quran and tell the story of how Prophet Mohammad, may peace be upon him, received the Quran. A few speeches will also be shared by UNLV's MSA members on the meaning and significance of Islam's holy month Ramadan.

In this way, it is easy to understand that the leadership of our current ummah in our nation is dependent upon us to step up to the plate to lead our deen into the future. To do so, we need your help!


The Muslim Student Association of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas would like to take this opportunity to cordially invite you to our Iftar/Fundraising event on FRIDAY, August 27th. Our fundraiser will be graciously hosted at the Jamia Masjid with the hopes of raising funds to back potential projects that have already been set in motion. These prospective events will be geared towards rounding up the youth of our city in order to instill in them the ideals that characterize the worth of being Muslim-American leaders in a time when our country looks to our ummah for clarification and answers.
