Assalam O ALaykum:
All praise is to Allah (SWT) the Master of the Universe, all Knowing, all Hearing and truly Wise. With His grace and the help of many from the local community and many from other parts of the United States, we completed the second phase of the Islamic Information Center relocation project and we will have our first Friday prayers starting today February 5, 2010 / 21 Safar 1431. Imam Fateen will deliver the first Khutbah, Brother Tarik will deliver the 2nd Khutbah and Dr. Shafi will be delivering the 3rd Khutbah, insha Allah.
The Center opened in 2002 in a small 800 square feet rented facility opposite the UNLV (University of Nevada Las Vegas) campus and relocated due to adequate space to its current location on Maryland Parkway is moving today to a new location at 1610 E. Russell Road. This is a central location close to the McCarran international airport, not too far from the UNLV campus and the infamous Las Vegas strip.
The first phase was to purchase the prime 1.62 acres of property located on Russell Road where approximately 50,000 vehicles pass by every day.
Phase 1 completed: Land Purchase and minor modifications. Total Cost $1,155,200
Phase 2 completed: Work completed to comply with Code requirements to open the existing building. Total Cost $237,000
Phase 3 includes plans to build a land mark structure to accomplish our mission and make our vision a reality. Total estimated Cost $2,600,000. The Center needs your help in this phase.
TOTAL COST OF THE PROJECT $1,155,200 + $237,000 + $2,600,000 = $3,992,200
Completed Phase 1 & 2 at a cost = $1,155,200 + $237,000 = $1,392,200
Projected Funds Needed for Phase 3= $2,600,000

$1 Million appeal launched to help victims of Haiti quake
Haitians are in desperate need for support after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake rocked their island nation yesterday.
An estimated 3 million people were affected by the quake, which was the worst in the region in 200 years.
Islamic Relief USA has launched a $1 million appeal to help the victims. In addition, Islamic Relief USA is working with partners to ship urgently needed aid to relieve the suffering.
An untold number of people are still trapped under rubble, as thousands of buildings were destroyed in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capitol. Homes, schools, hospitals, even the National Palace where the president resides were all destroyed.
Injured children are taking refuge in collapsed buildings and under debris, as aftershocks continue to rattle the small island.
Victims are in desperate need for food, water, shelter and medicine, especially since Haiti’s infrastructure is already very modest and has now been brought to its knees by the quake.
Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere. For more info go to www.IslamicReliefUSA.org
